Hi, I’m Lucky the Talking Bird. If you’ve never heard of me, then you don’t know how lucky I am to be alive. In fact, that’s how I got my name! You can read more about that and some other funny parrot stories on my About page.

There are two humans who help me make my books, Terry Wilson and Carla Chadwick. Terry never planned on making children’s bedtime stories, but I talked him into it. I can be quite persuasive when I want to be. And he already had lots of pictures of animals from all over the world because of the years he spent writing for pet magazines. So I said, “Hey, let’s make some books together.” He said yes!

As luck would have it (I’m a very lucky bird), he had a friend named Carla who knows how to make books and websites. Like Terry, she’s a writer. But she also knows how to make photos of me and my friends into books, so they became partners to create books starring me!

My Philosophy

I feel that childhood should be fun–and so should learning! Some schools today are more focused on teaching how to take tests than on how to explore and learn. In my small way, I want to communicate facts about interesting subjects while still keeping it light and joking around. That’s why each of my Kindle books has brightly colored images of me and my animal friends, combined with easy to digest facts and lots of humorous interaction. We also provide a very simple quiz at the end for those who want to test their knowledge. But Lucky doesn’t judge if you don’t want to take a quiz! It’s just there to reinforce the facts in the book for those who do.

I also think art is important for kids. This is why I’ve created a variety of free downloadable coloring pages in the Lucky Loot section of my website. Each has my picture on it, so you can color along with me. I might even offer coloring books on Amazon.com some day!
